The Collaborative Arts Project is a year long collaboration between Amy Schmierbach, professor of art at Fort Hays State University, students of FHSU, and Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas. Schmierbach and and students are providing workshops to the DSNWK individuals with disabilities to provide structured art experiences centered on weaving, drawing, and photography. The goal of this project is to reach more individuals and to create more opportunities in the arts. This project is based on the model of Socially Engaged Art, which seeks create art with communities for their benefit and for the benefit of public arts. I was a member of the collaboration from 2018 to 2019.
